Why convert PNG to WebP
WebP files are usually much smaller than PNG files at the same visual quality. For a website, that means each page loads faster, which helps visitors on slow connections and keeps pages light. The saving depends on the picture, so check the size shown for each file. Images with large flat areas, such as logos and icons, often shrink the most, while busy photographs shrink less.
All modern browsers show WebP, so a converted file works on the web without extra steps. Check any older tool or upload form before you rely on it, because some still expect PNG or JPG. Keep the original PNG as a fallback for those places.
