05The guide

Your name on every photo

Why watermark your photos

A watermark puts your name on a picture before it travels. Photographers mark proofs before a client pays, shops mark product photos so copies lead back to them, and artists sign work they share on social media. It will not stop every copy, but it makes credit obvious and discourages casual reuse.

Type your text, your name, website or a © line, choose where it goes and how strong it is, and every photo you drop gets the same mark, sized to fit that picture.

Corner, centre or tiled

A corner mark at the bottom right or left is the cleanest choice for portfolios and social posts: it signs the photo without getting in the way. A centred mark suits proofs. A tiled watermark repeats your text diagonally across the whole picture; at 30 to 50 % opacity it stays see-through but is much harder to crop off or paint out, which makes it the best protection for previews.

Size is a share of the photo’s short side, so the mark looks the same on tall and wide pictures. White text with a soft shadow reads well on most photos; use black on bright, plain backgrounds.

Batch watermarking and privacy

Drop up to 100 photos at once and download them one by one or as a ZIP; each keeps its own format. The watermark is drawn in your browser, on your own device, so your photos are never uploaded. It is free with no extra watermark of ours, and a free CutLift account unlocks the downloads. To use a logo image instead of text, place it as a layer in the CutLift editor and lower its opacity.

Watermarks in the editor

Click Edit on any result to open it in the CutLift editor. Its Convert panel has the same watermark with a live preview, alongside borders, rounded corners and every save format, so you can sign and frame a photo in one pass before downloading it.
